Arrival in Lhasa (3,650 m)
Your private Tibetan guide meets you at Lhasa Gonggar Airport. Transfer to your hotel and rest to begin altitude acclimatization. Take it easy today — drink plenty of water and avoid strenuous activity.

Lhasa Exploration
Morning visit to the Potala Palace, the iconic 13-story fortress-palace that dominates the Lhasa skyline. Afternoon explore Jokhang Temple, the spiritual heart of Tibetan Buddhism, and walk the Barkhor Circuit with pilgrims.

Drepung & Sera Monasteries
Visit Drepung Monastery, once the world’s largest monastery with over 10,000 monks. Afternoon at Sera Monastery to watch the famous monk debates — a lively tradition of philosophical argumentation.
- Day 4
Lhasa to Gyantse (3,980 m)
Drive to Gyantse via Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet’s three sacred lakes. Stop at the Karo La Glacier. Visit the Pelkor Chode Monastery and Gyantse Kumbum, a unique multi-tiered chorten.

Gyantse to Shigatse (3,840 m)

Shigatse to Everest Base Camp (5,200 m)
The big day! Drive through the dramatic landscapes of the Tibetan Plateau, crossing high mountain passes. Arrive at Everest Base Camp on the northern slope. Watch the sunset paint Mount Everest golden — one of the world’s most unforgettable sights.

Everest Sunrise & Return to Shigatse
Wake early to watch the sunrise illuminate Everest’s peak. After soaking in the magnificent views, begin the drive back to Shigatse, arriving in the evening.
- Day 8
Shigatse to Lhasa
Drive back to Lhasa along the Yarlung Tsangpo River. Enjoy the expansive plateau scenery and a relaxed pace. Evening free to explore Lhasa at your leisure or purchase souvenirs.
- Day 9
Departure from Lhasa
After breakfast, your guide transfers you to Lhasa Gonggar Airport for your departure flight. Take one last look at the Himalayan horizon.

- Permits. All Tibet Travel Permits are arranged by us and included. We need your passport and China visa copy at least 15 days before departure.
- Altitude. This tour reaches 5,200 m at Everest Base Camp. A proper acclimatization schedule is built in, but consult your doctor before booking.
- Weather. Best months are April–October. Even in summer, temperatures at EBC can drop to freezing at night. Pack warm layers.
- Accessibility. Not recommended for travelers with serious heart or respiratory conditions. Moderate fitness required.
- Confirmation. Within 48 hours of booking, subject to permit availability.

Do I need a special permit for Tibet?
Yes. We arrange all necessary Tibet Travel Permits for you. You only need a valid Chinese visa and passport. Provide these at least 15 days before departure.
How high is Everest Base Camp?
The Tibetan-side Base Camp is at 5,200 meters (17,060 feet). We include proper acclimatization days in Lhasa before ascending further.
Will I get altitude sickness?
Most travelers experience mild symptoms like headache or shortness of breath on the first day or two. Our gradual ascent schedule helps minimize this. Your guide carries oxygen and can adjust the pace.
Is the tour physically demanding?
The main challenge is altitude, not physical exertion. Most sightseeing involves moderate walking. The long drives require patience but the scenery is incredible.
Can I take photos at monasteries?
Exterior photography is usually fine. Inside chapels, photography is often restricted or requires a small fee. Your guide will advise.
What is the cancellation policy?
Due to permit arrangements, cancellations more than 15 days before departure receive a full refund minus a $100 processing fee.
